This striking triptych captivates with its exploration of color and form. The left panel dominates with vivid yellow tones, featuring jagged linear patterns that evoke movement. It contrasts with subtle blue and gray accents, suggesting depth. The central piece engages with a rich maroon background, adorned by a central pink shape, exuding warmth. Thin, angular black lines traverse the canvas, balanced by the presence of small, circular white elements, creating a sense of equilibrium. The right panel presents a deep blue backdrop, intersected by a bold, zigzagging yellow line that injects energy. Translucent, amorphous forms float within, inviting contemplation. Each panel is a distinct exploration yet, together, they harmoniously challenge perceptions of space and abstraction, demonstrating a masterful interplay of geometry and spontaneity.

Derivas sobre fondo brings together a series of compositions in which form does not impose itself on space, but rather traverses it. Lines, planes, and marks appear as records of a movement without destination, straining the relationship between surface and gesture. The background does not function as a passive support, but rather as an active field that absorbs, deflects, and shapes each action. Rodrigo Etem has been investigating and working surreptitiously on concepts that aim to disseminate questions about our daily experience.Thinking today from a certain geography, in terms of territoriality, is diluted by new technologies, ways of communicating and imposed distances, Etem's pieces, far from being distant from the current challenge, enter fully into the field of everyday life and desires, crossing an entire continent from the screen, creating films without cameras, collecting all the errors of a virtual representation of the world and making digital images occupy the physical space, are some of the clues that can be found in his latest works.
