Description
This abstract composition captures the raw energy of a turbulent landscape. Bold brushstrokes create a sense of constant motion. Luminous whites collide with deep teals and midnight blues. These cool tones evoke the depths of an ocean or a storm-swept sky. Strategic bursts of ochre and gold inject warmth into the scene. They act as anchors amidst the swirling chaos. The texture is thick and tactile. Layers of paint build a physical presence on the canvas. Each gesture feels spontaneous yet precise. The interplay of light and shadow generates a profound atmospheric depth. It invites the viewer into a meditative state of observation. The balance between the airy upper section and the dense lower half suggests a horizon line lost in a mist. Sharp accents of crimson emerge near the base. They provide a sudden, rhythmic contrast to the dominant blue palette. This artwork explores the tension between serenity and volatility. It translates elemental forces into a sophisticated visual language. The final effect is one of powerful, natural equilibrium.
Presentation
Omar Obaid (b.1985) is an award-winning abstract artist based in London. After graduating with a BSc in Computer Science, Omar’s career took him on a different path. Formerly working for The New York Times. Omar has now been a full-time independent artist painting professionally for over 14 years, and he enjoys creating large-scale expressive original oil and acrylic paintings in his studio in West London. Omar won the Best Of Design Award in the Houzz Awards in 2026 and 2025.
Omar's technique has been developing over the years, and mainly working with oil and acrylic paint on cotton canvas, Omar has created a signature colour palette which you can see throughout his collection.
Inspired by the modern masters including Rothko, Pollock and Kandinsky, Omar enjoys creating abstract paintings from layers of paint applied using a palette knife and adding the finishing touches with his signature mark-making techniques using varied brushes.
Omar’s artwork has appeared on TV in shows including Suits, Million Dollar Listing NYC and George Clarke’s Amazing Renovations. Omar’s work is held in public and private collections in over 35 countries including the UK, USA, Germany, Philippines and Australia.
