Omar Obaid

Omar Obaid (b.1985) is an award-winning abstract artist based in London. After graduating with a BSc in Computer Science, Omar’s career took him on a different path. Formerly working for The New York Times. Omar has now been a full-time independent artist painting professionally for over 14 years, and he enjoys creating large-scale expressive original oil and acrylic paintings in his studio in West London. Omar won the Best Of Design Award in the Houzz Awards in 2026 and 2025.

Omar's technique has been developing over the years, and mainly working with oil and acrylic paint on cotton canvas, Omar has created a signature colour palette which you can see throughout his collection.

Inspired by the modern masters including Rothko, Pollock and Kandinsky, Omar enjoys creating abstract paintings from layers of paint applied using a palette knife and adding the finishing touches with his signature mark-making techniques using varied brushes.

Omar’s artwork has appeared on TV in shows including Suits, Million Dollar Listing NYC and George Clarke’s Amazing Renovations. Omar’s work is held in public and private collections in over 35 countries including the UK, USA, Germany, Philippines and Australia. Omar was commissioned for Champneys Spa, Tiktok’s London headquarters and Caesars Forum, which hosts the world’s largest pillarless ballroom in Las Vegas,.
