Description
This abstract composition captures a powerful sense of movement. Broad strokes of teal and deep navy dominate the canvas. They collide with flashes of burnt orange and crisp white. The energy is visceral. The application of paint suggests a turbulent landscape or a crashing sea. Thick textures create a tangible depth. Each gesture feels spontaneous yet controlled. Light breaks through the center of the artwork. This contrast evokes a feeling of hope amidst chaos. The color palette balances cool depths with warm accents. It invites a meditative gaze. The eye wanders through layers of pigment. The surface reveals a complex dialogue between shadow and luminosity. Every brushstroke contributes to a rhythmic, atmospheric tension. The piece resonates with a raw, elemental force. It transforms the flat plane into a multidimensional space. The final effect is a vivid exploration of color and emotion. The artwork concludes with subtle hints of ochre emerging from the dark blue depths.

Omar Obaid (b.1985) is an award-winning abstract artist based in London. After graduating with a BSc in Computer Science, Omar’s career took him on a different path. Formerly working for The New York Times. Omar has now been a full-time independent artist painting professionally for over 14 years, and he enjoys creating large-scale expressive original oil and acrylic paintings in his studio in West London. Omar won the Best Of Design Award in the Houzz Awards in 2026 and 2025.
Omar's technique has been developing over the years, and mainly working with oil and acrylic paint on cotton canvas, Omar has created a signature colour palette which you can see throughout his collection.
Inspired by the modern masters including Rothko, Pollock and Kandinsky, Omar enjoys creating abstract paintings from layers of paint applied using a palette knife and adding the finishing touches with his signature mark-making techniques using varied brushes.

Omar’s work is held in public and private collections in over 35 countries including the UK, USA, Germany, Philippines and Australia.
