Description
A striking exploration of the subconscious. This mixed media artwork presents two enigmatic figures against a muted, ethereal backdrop. The composition balances surrealism with a deep sense of introspection. On the left, a figure stands in a dark garment, adorned with a singular, geometric block of color. A whimsical crest crowns the head, adding a touch of the fantastic to the silhouette. Beside them, a second presence emerges, draped in a vibrant ochre fabric that frames a masked face. The gaze is haunting, marked by vivid blue accents and a solemn expression.
The artist draws from the contrasting landscapes of Bolivia to create a unique figurative language. This piece captures the tension between the Andean altiplano and urban surrealism. Soft gradients blend into sharp lines, evoking a dreamlike atmosphere. The use of color is deliberate, guiding the eye through a narrative of cultural identity and existential reflection. Every brushstroke reveals a profound sensibility, transforming a simple encounter into a psychological study. Rosemary Achata is a versatile emerging artist who builds on her strengths day by day. Honest to her work, she is a representative of a Bolivian contemporary figurative current with a focus on the representation of social issues and cultural aspects of the country.
Achata´s approach within this current is unique, because of her profound existential reflections, which originate in her life experiences between two contrasting landscapes, the Andean altiplano and the big city, both with their respective almost surreal social imaginaries; and come out because of her immense sensibility, evidenced by her traces and use of color. Her work oscillates between drawing and painting, always in the lookout for the appropriate plastic language to represent sensations, to tell us about her introspections.
