Description
This mixed-media composition explores the intersection of memory and mass media. The artist employs a sophisticated pop-stance approach. Fragments of newsprint and commercial typography collide with delicate figurative elements. A sliced pomegranate rests at the center. Its deep red seeds provide a vivid organic contrast to the sterile white background.
The narrative unfolds through layers of collage and pencil. A white pitcher stands to the right. It bears a ghostly floral imprint. These domestic objects evoke a sense of quiet intimacy. They exist within a chaotic field of printed text and abstract white brushstrokes.
The artwork reflects on the transient nature of everyday life. It blends the optimism of advertising with the fragility of personal history. The tension between the tangible fruit and the flat printed word creates a compelling visual dialogue. Every layer reveals a transition between identity and public perception. The composition is anchored by a precise balance of negative space and dense information. It concludes with a subtle signature and date in the lower corner.
Presentation
A leading contemporary interdisciplinary artist renowned for her distinct pop-stance paintings and multimedia works. Drawing consistent inspiration from Pop Art movements, her practice reaffirms the liberal utopias of the 1980s, trading natural light for the radiant, optimistic glow of mass-media aesthetics. Matsakyan skillfully weaponizes commercial symbols, advertising motifs and explores memory, identity and socio-political transitions.
