Guard, 2026

Erika Vilimaityte

Guard is part of the "At Her Own Pace" series, an ongoing body of work exploring quiet confidence, timeless elegance, and the strength found in self-possession.
In this painting, the presence of the white sighthound transforms companionship into a symbol of trust, loyalty, and silent protection. Rather than depicting a dramatic narrative, the composition celebrates composure—the kind of confidence that does not seek attention, yet naturally commands it.
Inspired by the dialogue between contemporary figurative painting and classical portrait traditions, the work balances refined colour relationships, carefully constructed form, and a restrained emotional atmosphere. The geometric garment introduces rhythm and modernity, while the muted palette allows the figures to remain calm and enduring beyond passing trends.
Executed in oil on canvas, Guard is designed as a timeless statement piece for collectors who appreciate sophisticated figurative art with lasting presence. As part of the "At Her Own Pace" series, it reflects a continuing exploration of independence, elegance, and inner strength.
