Description
A quiet tension defines this composition. A single yellow flower stands tall in a deep blue vase. Its petals appear fragile. They lean toward a soft, neutral background. Beside it, a glass bowl holds a cluster of golden fruits. The light is precise. It creates a sharp contrast between the tangible objects and their distorted shadows. These dark silhouettes stretch upward. They mirror the organic shapes with a ghostly precision.
The artist explores the delicate boundary between presence and absence. Forms begin to dissolve. The interplay of light and shadow transforms a simple still life into a meditation on memory. Each brushstroke emphasizes the fragility of the moment. The palette remains muted. Only the vibrant yellow and deep blue pierce the grey atmosphere. This creates a rhythmic balance between warmth and coldness. The artwork captures a fleeting state of being. It lingers on the transition from clarity to blur. The composition focuses on the subtle shift of light across the curved surface of the glass.
Presentation
Olga Yerushalmy was born in 1978 in St. Petersburg, Russia, and has lived in Israel since 1993. She currently lives and works in Israel. Yerushalmy studied at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design from 1998 to 2003, following earlier studies at the “Gan Nahum” Art School in Rishon LeZion. Working in painting, drawing, and printmaking, her practice focuses on light, shadow, memory, and the gradual disappearance of form. Through acrylics, watercolor, etching, monotype, and mixed techniques, she explores the fragile boundary between presence and absence, often dissolving figures and spaces into traces and reflections. Yerushalmy has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Israel and abroad, including international printmaking biennials, and took part in an art residency in Poland in 2024. One of her works is included in the collection of a museum in North Macedonia. In 2026, she participated in the Fresh Paint Art Fair in Tel Aviv as part of the independent project "Dialogue", curated by Ella Cohen, alongside another artist. The project explored the meeting between different artistic voices through painting and printmaking
