Description
A deep chromatic expanse structures this composition. The nocturnal blue dominates the upper part. It gradually fades to make way for a dark, earthy red. This transition creates a striking visual tension.
A multitude of white dots are scattered across the canvas. These luminous touches evoke a flock of birds or a star constellation. The movement seems organic. It guides the gaze through the pictorial space with a natural fluidity.
The work of the material brings a subtle relief. The pigments intertwine to form rich and nuanced textures. The light seems to emanate from the center of the scene. It contrasts with the darkness of the backgrounds.
The balance between cool and warm tones establishes a contemplative atmosphere. The repetition of the white motifs paces the whole. This piece plays on the duality between the void and the full. It ends with isolated flashes of light on a carmine background.
Presentation
Alberto Letamendi, is an artist from Ordizia (Basque Country) born in 1964.
In his work, whether in painting or sculpture, he uses various techniques with a preference for natural materials such as fe powder, wood and pigments. His series "ITXAROPENA" - Hope - is a work, inspired by Basque heritage.
The artist with his characters dressed in traditional Basque costumes, shows us his vision of local solidarity and mutual aid. The human warmth released by the bright colors, refers to the idea of communion and unity that exists in its territory.
Great artist of the new Basque generation, Alberto Letamendi is an artist followed for years by some collectors. In 2019, the artist inaugurated a sculpture "Elkarri Begirra" commissioned by the city of Tolosa (Spain), to celebrate the peace process in the Basque Country.
