Description
This composition emerges as a meditative landscape. It invites a deep spiritual introspection. The artist creates a dialogue between silence and material. A restrained palette of earthy greys and muted ochre defines the atmosphere. The upper section reveals a dense crust of crackle paste. These fractures suggest memory and vulnerability. They mirror the scars of time. The surface feels ancient and geological. Below, the tension dissolves into a fluid descent. Pale drips of paint slide downward like slow tears or rain. This vertical movement creates a sense of suspended time. Gold leaf accents shimmer within the depths. They provide a sacred glimmer amidst the shadows. The artwork does not depict a physical place. It evokes an emotional terrain. Every layer acts as a threshold between the visible and the invisible. The contrast between the rugged top and the ethereal bottom guides the eye. It moves from a state of tension toward a quiet stillness. The final effect is one of secular prayer. The gaze settles on the delicate intersection of pigment and texture.
Presentation
Gabriela Aleksandra Szuba, known as GAS, is a Polish artist based in Italy. With an academic background in economics, she later embraced an autonomous artistic journey, driven by a deep spiritual search and the desire to give form to the unseen.
Her work emerges from silence and unfolds as a meditative act. Using acrylics, crackle paste, pigments and gold leaf, GAS crafts vibrant, textured surfaces where every fracture holds memory and every layer becomes emotional terrain. The material becomes time, the crack a scar, and the gold a glimmer of sacred presence.
Her paintings do not depict; they evoke. Cracks speak of vulnerability and strength, of a holiness revealed through imperfection. Her palette — deep, restrained, at times dramatic — opens contemplative spaces, poised between tension and stillness, body and spirit.
Each title is a threshold: a symbolic entry into a suspended realm where visual language becomes meditation, a secular prayer, a passage through the invisible.
Her works have been exhibited in Italy, Switzerland, Argentina, and the United Kingdom, in spaces dedicated to contemporary research and the dialogue between artistic languages. For GAS, every exhibition is a natural extension of the creative process — a moment of shared introspection.
