Path of Memories, 2025

Yuliia Vavrynchuk

This work explores memory as a path shaped not only by events, but also by people, encounters, and inner transformation. It speaks about how, when we look back, we begin to see a complete picture where there once seemed to be only separate moments of life.
For me, this painting is an archive of memories. Every step, every person, every conversation, and every unexpected meeting leaves its mark. Some experiences brought trust, while others brought doubt, loss, or uncertainty. But with time, I began to see that all of these experiences helped shape my path.
As children, we often do not understand why things happen. Later, questions begin to appear: Why did this happen? What was this experience for? These questions became the beginning of my inner search. Over time, I realized that even the smallest events, people, and decisions were part of a much bigger story that slowly guided me toward a deeper understanding of myself.
In my artistic practice, I archive the moments when trust was born and when it was lost. Through painting, I try not only to preserve these experiences but also to understand the connections between them. With time, memory becomes more than a collection of moments—it becomes a map of an inner journey, where every experience gains a new meaning.
The path in this painting almost disappears among the trees, light, and layers of color. It has no clear edges, just as life itself rarely does. We almost never see the whole journey while we are living it. Only by looking back do we realize that every turn was important, and that every person who entered our life brought a unique lesson. Whether through kindness or difficulty, they helped shape our ability to trust—ourselves, others, and life itself.
Through flowing paint, layered colors, and softly blurred forms, I express the way memory changes over time. Memories are never fixed; they continue to evolve as we grow. What once seemed like a mistake or a random event can later reveal itself as an essential part of our personal journey.
This painting invites the viewer to reflect on their own Path of Memories—to trace how people, places, questions, and lived experiences gradually shape their own truth. There may not be one universal answer, but by looking closely at our own journey, we can begin to hear our inner voice and develop trust in the path that has brought us to where we are today.
