Description
This painting presents a contemporary figurative garden scene centered on a quiet moment of reading and contemplation.
A young woman in a vivid yellow dress and pink hat sits on a wooden bench beside a pond, absorbed in a book. Cats rest nearby, while ducks move across the water. Beyond the garden, a picturesque landscape unfolds with stone houses, cypress trees, and softly rolling hills beneath a warm pink and violet evening sky.
The scene is rendered through simplified forms, flat areas of saturated color, and a strong decorative sense of rhythm. Warm ochre, golden, and yellow tones in the dress and stone architecture contrast with deep emerald and olive greens of the vegetation, while the pink-toned sky unifies the composition with a gentle atmospheric glow.
A distinctive feature of the work is the deliberate simplification and slight flattening of perspective. Rather than relying on traditional academic modeling and realistic tonal transitions, the painting uses clearly defined shapes, local color, and decorative pattern to create a heightened, almost dreamlike sense of place.
The work explores the beauty of an unhurried moment in which reading, nature, and solitude become a shared space of calm and restoration. The garden is presented not simply as a physical setting, but as an imagined refuge where everyday life slows down and a quiet sense of harmony emerges. The artwork will be shipped rolled for safe transit, dimensions of the painting 36,22/36,22 /0,03inch (92/92/0,01 cm) and total dimensions of canvas 40,16/40,16/0,03 inch (102/102/0,01cm), dimensions closely align with US standard framing sizes . Shipped in roll.
