Family picnic, 2026

Olha Symonenko

This work is a contemporary figurative composition centered on the human form and narrative human interaction set within an idyllic summer landscape.
At the heart of the narrative is a figurative group: a family settled on a white blanket amidst lush greenery. The parents and daughter are captured in moments of quiet rest, while the child figures bring plastic movement and energy to the scene as they play badminton. In the background, a peaceful pastoral landscape unfolds with white houses, arborvitae trees, haystacks, and chickens freely roaming the grass.
The painting is characterized by simplified forms, softly defined areas of local color, and a harmonious natural palette. The silhouettes and poses of the figures are rendered with expressive simplicity, where the olive and fresh green tones of the environment contrast with warm accents of yellow, red, and ochre in the clothing, adding rhythm and visual energy to the composition.
A distinctive feature of the composition is a high, multi-layered perspective that merges the depiction of human figures with spatial depth. Large, stylized leaves in the foreground form a natural frame, inviting the viewer to become a quiet observer and highlighting the emotional connection between the characters.
The work celebrates family unity, human poise, childhood spontaneity, and the simple joy of unhurried relaxation in nature. An ordinary summer picnic is transformed into a poetic image of warmth, closeness, and harmony between people and nature.  The artwork will be shipped rolled for safe transit, dimensions of the painting 36,22/36,22 /0,03inch (92/92/0,01 cm)   and total dimensions of canvas 40,16/40,16/0,03 inch (102/102/0,01cm), dimensions closely align with US standards.
