Pink blossom in bloom, 2026

Olha Symonenko

This painting is a contemporary expressive floral still life from The Energy of Color series, exploring the emotional power of color, texture, and the vitality of nature.
A dynamic arrangement of lush pink blossoms fills the composition, emerging against a deep blue-violet background. The large flowers extend across the surface of the canvas, creating a sense of movement and abundance. Rather than depicting the flowers as a traditional botanical study, the composition emphasizes their expressive presence, vivid color, and physical energy.
The painting is characterized by rich impasto, pronounced surface texture, and strong color contrasts. Bright pink, coral, and crimson tones interact with deep ultramarine, indigo, and emerald green, while touches of white, warm beige, and golden tones create luminous accents throughout the composition.
A distinctive feature of the work is the combination of heavily textured impasto with circular relief patterns and expressive paint drips along the lower part of the canvas. Spiral-like grooves and raised passages create a rhythmic surface, giving the flowers a sense of pulsating movement and emphasizing the tactile nature of the painting.
The work explores the emotional and vital force of color. The abundant blossoms become more than a decorative floral subject: they suggest flowering, sensuality, vitality, and the continuous renewal of life. Within The Energy of Color series, color and texture become the primary means of transforming a recognizable natural subject into an emotionally charged contemporary painting.
