Moments of happiness, 2026

Olha Symonenko

This painting is a contemporary figurative composition centered on a family and the intimate bond between parents and their child.
At the center of the composition, a mother holds a young baby close to her, while the father stands behind them, gently embracing the family. The three figures form a unified group, with their overlapping arms and bodies creating a strong sense of closeness, protection, and tenderness.
The simplified facial features and clearly outlined forms give the figures a stylized, expressive character. Warm red, orange, ochre, and golden tones dominate the clothing and skin, contrasting with the fresh green landscape behind them. Above the family, a bright sun and two birds appear against a softly colored sky, while distant horizontal bands of hills and landscape create a simple sense of depth.
The composition focuses on the physical gestures of the figures: the mother's protective embrace, the baby's closeness to her, and the father's arms surrounding them. These gestures become the central visual language of the painting, emphasizing family connection and emotional unity.
The work explores family, parenthood, tenderness, protection, and the continuity of life. The natural landscape surrounding the figures reinforces the feeling of harmony and creates a timeless setting for an intimate family moment.
