Description
In this work, Odile Pinto Corbin makes the intimacy of a bouquet of flowers dialogue with the immensity of the marine landscape. The yellow and orange flowers bloom in the foreground while a wide-open window reveals the sea and its horizon.
The color is the true language of the painting here: the luminous yellows of the flowers respond to the deep blues of the ocean, while the reds, greens, and oranges structure the composition. The affirmed contours and the spontaneous touches give the forms an almost musical energy.
The artist does not seek to faithfully reproduce reality, but to render a sensation from it: that of a marine light, of a window open to the wide expanse, and of a moment suspended between interior and exterior.
Between figuration and free expression, this work invites the gaze to move from the bouquet to the sea, like an escape to the horizon.
Presentation
Odile Pinto-Corbin is an award-winning artist based in France whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Switzerland and Germany.
After a scientific career as a nuclear chemistry doctor, she turned to an artistic life. Her training led her to explore various workshops in the Netherlands, Switzerland, and then France, where she perfected her technique. She is now part of the Dictionary of Artists Registered. She has sold to the United States, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Spain, and of course, France.
Her experience as a chemist gave her a unique perception of colors. Now, in her painting, she attempts bold associations, seeking to master the balance between contrast and harmony.
The artist seeks abstraction on a concrete base. And lets the viewer get lost in a labyrinth of free thought.
