Description
A rigorous exploration of abstraction. This acrylic painting from 2019 plays on repetition and structure.
Six red rectangles are precisely organized on a dark background.
The composition relies on a marked chromatic contrast.
The material becomes the main subject here.
The eye travels across worked surfaces where the relief alternates between finesse and roughness.
Horizontal and vertical striations create a constant visual rhythm.
The interplay between the opacity of the pigments and the texture of the support brings a tactile depth.
The minimalist approach emphasizes the tension between geometric order and the spontaneity of the gesture.
The balance rests on the opposition of masses and the regularity of the frames.
The final rendering highlights meticulous work on the thickness of the grain.
Presentation
Each painting is a unique and special experience. It is above all a spiritual adventure. Thanks to the play of materials distributed on the canvases, accidents caused by chance, colored games, the surface can begin to live, to take a desired orientation which will open the sessions of painted experiments. The choice of binder is important, glossy or matt, oil or acrylic. I sometimes use fluorescent pigments to show with the help of a UV lamp, the same paint lights up by itself: it's the “kiss cool" effect, it's another way of enjoy.
I would like the following concepts to be found in my paintings:
Light / dark
transparency / opacity
grain thickness / fineness
smoothness / roughness
