Celia Fernandez

Celia Fernandez presents a fresh and original interpretation of contemporary geometric abstraction through her signature dot-based technique, a distinctive visual language that explores the dialogue between colour, form, and perception.

Her work reimagines the lineage of Op and kinetic art, merging it with a deeply introspective and spiritual dimension that reflects on human connection, emotion, and transformation. Each composition is both a visual and spiritual meditation, transforming the circle -one of humanity’s oldest and most universal symbols- into a language of energy, connection, and renewal.

For Fernandez, the act of creating is profoundly spiritual: the dot, as the fundamental point of all beginnings, becomes a metaphor for life itself, representing unity, eternity, and the continuous cycles of birth, death, and rebirth. Her paintings embody the belief that we are all part of something larger, vibrating within the same cosmic rhythm.

Grounded in precision and intuition, Fernandez’s practice bridges the rational and the emotional, the personal and the universal.

Her work captivates viewers through its digital-like precision, achieved entirely by hand, the remarkable balance of colour, and the boldness of its application—elements that combine to create a hypnotic visual experience that transcends the purely optical.

A finalist in several Australian art prizes, Fernandez’s work resonates for both its technical innovation and its ability to convey meaning that extends beyond perception.

Visually striking and conceptually grounded, her paintings invite quiet contemplation, where geometry becomes a vessel for spirituality and abstraction a bridge between the self and the infinite.

Experimental, original, intuitive, and playful, her work offers a distinctive and compelling contribution to contemporary art.
