Description
Output 4 belongs to the series, in which Mark Hellbusch explores the relationship between preparation, control, speed and chance.
The actual act of painting is preceded by a considerably longer period of preparation. Colors, tools and an initial visual order are prepared in advance. Once the painting begins, however, this relationship changes dramatically: within only a few minutes, the prepared structure is worked over, layered and partly disrupted. There is little room for prolonged consideration or later correction.
In Output 4, turquoise, blue and green dominate the composition. Muted reds and darker areas create greater density around the center, while smaller traces of color remain scattered across the surface. Earlier layers are still visible in places, meeting smears, overlaps and immediate painterly marks. The original order therefore remains present without controlling the finished painting.
The title refers to the logic of digital systems and, in particular, communication with artificial intelligence: an input is processed and produces an output. Hellbusch translates this principle into an entirely analogue painting process. Here too, there is a starting point and a process, but material, movement, speed and spontaneous decisions make the final result impossible to predict completely.
The plan determines the beginning – not the outcome.
Output 4is an original and unique work created in 2026.

Presentation
Born in Bad Segeberg, my life's journey has taken me to vibrant locales such as Brazil, Spain, and the USA. I pursued my passion for art at the prestigious Falmouth School of Art and Design in England and complemented this with a diploma in Geography from Marburg University.
Since 1997, I have had the privilege of showcasing my work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in cultural hubs like Antwerp, Berlin, Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, and Mainz. My artistic journey also involves organizing workshops focused on experimental and expressive painting, sharing my techniques and vision with fellow art enthusiasts.
From 2007 to 2014, I operated a production gallery in Mainz, fostering a creative community. Since 2014, I have been based at my studio in Langendellschlag 62, Wiesbaden, where my creative ideas come to life. In 2021, I expanded my artistic reach by opening "ARTLET," a dedicated art outlet in the heart of the city, making my work more accessible to a broader audience.
My diverse experiences and passion for art continue to drive my creativity, allowing me to inspire and be inspired in return.
