Description
Two ballerinas are depicted sitting on the floor. One has her back to the viewer, while the other sits directly in front of her, clasping her foot and attempting to stretch it. The dancers are preparing for a performance following their warm-up. The painting is executed in a restrained palette of cool tones, featuring a color scheme dominated by blues, violets, and ochres. The artist's aim is to capture the atmosphere of the ballet world—specifically, the stage setting during the warm-up.
Presentation
Yuriy Lyamin (born November 24, 1954, in Rostock, Germany) is a professional painter working in the tradition of Realism. He received his early artistic training at the P.P. Benkov Art School in Kharkiv and later graduated from the prestigious Ilya Repin Academy in St. Petersburg, where he specialized in painting and fine arts education.
Lyamin has been actively exhibiting since 1974, participating in numerous national and international exhibitions, including Artexpo in the United States and exhibitions across Europe. His work has also been featured in auctions at Christie’s in London.
Working across genres such as portraiture, figurative art, landscape, animal studies, and still life, Lyamin’s paintings are held in private collections in Germany, France, Spain, the USA, Israel, Greece, and Russia.
