Description
The image unfolds like a night landscape between abstraction and figuration. A dark and dense horizon fragments the space. Dark masses rise, evoking an urban architecture or an immutable natural structure. At the bottom, touches of bright yellow pierce the darkness. This light suggests reflections on water or city lights.
The sky occupies the upper half with shades of green and deep blue. The work's repetition of textures creates atmospheric depth. The artist uses a mixture of oil, acrylic, and walnut dye. This technical choice brings chromatic richness and a particular matte quality.
The visual rhythm oscillates between saturated areas and ethereal areas. The composition guides the gaze towards a central vertical point, almost spectral. This 2025 painting explores the balance between light and shadow. The final rendering emphasizes a constant tension between raw material and the fluidity of the sky.
Presentation
MorN is a pictorial storyteller based in the Montauban region, near Toulouse.
His work is not built around a single medium nor in the search for a uniform style. Oil, acrylic, walnut ink, inks, paper, wood, canvas or polyester film become the instruments of a single exploration: that of territories about which one never quite knows if they have been observed, dreamed or invented.
Landscapes of Elsewhere, islands, forgotten civilizations, mythologies, future worlds or territories marked by natural forces compose a personal geography in which each work constitutes the fragment of a larger narrative.
MorN gives an essential place to accident and transformation. A run can become a shore, a trace can bring forth an architecture, a material can suggest a presence. Some works are born quickly when others accumulate layers, are scratched, turned over or covered. The subject thus determines the support and the manner rather than the other way around.
This freedom explains the apparent diversity of his work: MorN does not seek to fully show the worlds he imagines. He prefers to leave enough clues so that the viewer can venture into them and build their own story.
Literature, mythology, cinema, science fiction or contemporary concerns can feed his paintings without ever imposing a unique reading on them. Behind the fiction surface time, disappearance, the living, fires or our relationship to the worlds we inhabit.
These territories form today the MorNdes, a universe that the artist gathers and maps in the Atlas of MorNdes — Territories of a pictorial storyteller.
“To dive into one of his paintings is a bit like accepting to embark on a journey into the unknown."
