Description

That's Not Quite Right: Flowing Abstract Artwork for Contemporary Decor

Abstract canvas artwork offers an invitation to discover "That's Not Quite Right" (150 × 100 × 0.1 cm / 59.06 × 39.37 × 0.04 in) by Iamshell. Created in acrylic on canvas, this unique artwork measures 150 cm wide, 100 cm high, and 0.1 cm deep. Orange and rust curves weave through gray and charcoal strokes, with golden ochre marks and pale washes opening the composition against white. The artist describes a moment of misunderstanding that moves toward harmony in the curves; the image keeps that transition lively, with crossings, splashes, and unexpected changes of direction. Its flowing gestures give a contemporary room warmth and movement without relying on a literal subject. Above a sofa or dining room sideboard, the horizontal format can anchor a modern interior and complement natural wood, neutral fabrics, and black details. For a collector who enjoys emotionally expressive abstraction, the work offers a distinctive meeting of energy and balance. It is hand-signed on the back and offered without framing. Its theme of finding harmony also makes it a thoughtful gift for an art lover who values meaningful original decor.

The artwork will be shipped without a stretcher frame, rolled in a cardboard tube for safe transportation.

Presentation

Iamshell is a contemporary artist and singer-songwriter. Her work has been presented internationally, including World Art Dubai (2024) and exhibitions at Art Point Dubai, Dubai International Art Center, Reem Art Gallery, and Picasso Gallery. In 2025, Picasso Gallery presented her solo exhibition in Dubai. She received the Best Expressionist Artist award at the Artistic Luminary Awards in Dubai in 2024, and her painting Bull was featured in Gulf News the same year.

Iamshell works primarily in acrylic, creating vibrant abstract paintings shaped by her parallel practice in music. Trained as a vocalist and active as a singer-songwriter, she approaches painting through rhythm, improvisation, and emotional response. Ideas are allowed to develop intuitively on the canvas, much as sound and feeling unfold through music.

Bold color, energetic gestures, and light, spontaneous marks define her visual language. Rather than using abstraction to describe specific subjects, Iamshell treats it as a way to express sensations that resist verbal explanation.

At the center of her practice is an intentionally affirmative view of life. Her paintings explore joy, playfulness, freedom, and presence, translating the emotional energy of music into color and movement. She seeks to create works that do not simply represent optimism, but make it physically felt through rhythm, color, and gesture.
