Description
Echoes of Presence explores the space where physical absence and emotional presence coexist. The second figure emerges as an enduring presence rather than a fading memory, reflecting how love, memory, and shared experiences continue to shape who we are long after distance or circumstance separates us. The work speaks to the invisible bonds we carry within us, reminding us that some connections are not measured by physical proximity but by the lasting imprint they leave on our lives. It is a meditation on the quiet truth that while people may leave our sight, their presence can continue to guide, comfort, and transform us.
Presentation
Bali Audu is a Lagos-based Nigerian contemporary artist working primarily with acrylic on canvas. Her work transforms everyday human experiences into powerful visual narratives of resilience, identity, and self-discovery. Drawing inspiration from lived realities and rendered through a distinctive Henna-inspired dot visual language, her practice combines vibrant colour, layered symbolism, and storytelling to reflect the emotional and social complexities of contemporary life.
With a background in Textile Arts from the University of Lagos, where she graduated in 2015, her work reflects an interest in texture, ornamentation, and layered visual storytelling, creating compositions that are both deeply personal and universally resonant. Since transitioning fully into studio practice in 2022, her works have gained recognition across local and international exhibitions, including presentation in a contemporary auction at Signature Art Gallery in 2025.
Beyond her studio practice, she is passionate about cultural exchange and arts education, facilitating workshops across Nigeria and Cameroon while continuing to shape conversations around storytelling, memory, and everyday lived experience.
