Description
An audacious geometric composition where acrylic and collage intertwine. The eye scans a fragmented space, rhythmized by stark chromatic contrasts. Flats of vivid colors are organized in diagonals and circular arcs.
Three chess pieces, sculpted in woody tones, anchor the scene. The knight, the rook, and the king seem to navigate an abstract board. This play of forms creates a tension between order and deconstruction.
The work on the material brings a tangible relief to the whole. Fragments of texts are discreetly inserted into the décor, inviting analytical reading. Reflection settles between the strategic game and plastic freedom.
The visual balance rests on the opposition between straight lines and curves. The light seems to emanate from the center, guiding the eye towards a fragmented horizon. The work, created in 2026, explores geometry as a vector of thought. A rigorous precision is observed in the superposition of the paint layers.
Presentation
Self-taught painter, living in Le Mans, Stéphane Cantin has resumed his brushes for ten years.
He offers through his paintings a new perspective on the world around us; to look at it both as a colorful succession inviting reverie but also as an opening to deeper reflections.
Artistic freedom and freedom of the press being the two great paths leading to free thought, the artist brings them together in works that are both simple and complex with the sole objective of making everyone move forward on the path of reflection and of freedom.
