Description
The work of the material brings a tactile depth to the scene. Generous impasto creates a subtle relief. The light seems to filter through a light mist. It unifies the planes and softens the contours of the vegetation.
The artist captures the essence of a sleeping nature. The brushwork is precise while remaining free. Each brushstroke emphasizes the fragility of the bare branches. The whole exudes a contemplative serenity. The perspective guides the eye towards a blurred, almost abstract horizon. This canvas captures a suspended moment, marked by the sobriety of colors and the rigor of the climate. The painting relies on a balance between light areas and areas of shadow. The bottom of the painting anchors the scene in an organic and textured ground.
Presentation
A contemporary painter born in 1962 in La Celle-Saint-Cloud, André Boubounelle paints landscapes in the classical manner, at a time when practices often put aside the pictorial and the figurative. Whether luminous or misty, his landscapes are never animated and exude a delicate poetry, a harmonious melancholy. This gives a rare emotional intensity to his paintings: as if in immersion, we walk through familiar landscapes of Burgundy, Ile de France, the sunny countryside under the snow, the Vexin, northern Brittany through Tuscany.
Graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 1983. Prize from the Casa de Velázquez, Institut de France, resident from 1991 to 1993. Prize of the Wildenstein Foundation in 1993,
The departmental domain of the Vallée-aux-Loup, La Maison de Chateaubriand in Chatenay-Malabry devoted an important exhibition to him in 2019, under the aegis of Marc Fumaroli (1932-2020), of the Académie Française.
Pont-l'Evêque, Espace Culturel Les Dominicaines, devoted an important exhibition to him "Le Voyage Immobile" from 19 March to 8 May 2022
