Description
Golden Rain is a monumental, one-of-a-kind artwork by James Chiew, measuring an impressive 200 × 200 cm. The work is constructed through numerous layers of epoxy, each layer individually worked and manipulated using different techniques before the next layer is added.
This meticulous process creates an extraordinary sense of depth. Rather than existing solely on the surface, the image appears to extend into the artwork, with colours, textures and gestures suspended at different levels within the transparent epoxy. As the viewer moves around the work, light interacts with the various layers, revealing subtle changes in texture, reflection and colour.
The rich palette of deep blacks, warm golds, copper, bronze and earthy tones gives an intense and almost organic presence. The vertical movement across the composition suggests falling rain, flowing metal, tree bark or geological formations, while the layered epoxy creates a visual tension between solidity and transparency.
The scale of 200 × 200 cm further enhances the experience. At this monumental size, the work becomes an immersive presence rather than simply an image on a wall. The combination of multiple techniques, sculptural surface qualities and deep layers of epoxy makes every section of the artwork reveal new details upon closer inspection.
is a unique 1/1 original. It is not part of an edition and cannot be reproduced. Because every epoxy layer is individually created and manipulated, the exact combination of textures, colours, movements and depth could never be recreated a second time.
A highly distinctive contemporary work in which material, light, colour and process come together to create a powerful and immersive visual experience.
Presentation
James Chiew's paintings are born from his creativity, insight, and organizational skills. The designs are recognizable, graphic, and often with an oriental tinge. A sculpture or painting by James Chiew has the gift of elevating the atmosphere of an entire room to the next level. James Chiew, originally from Singapore, never received formal training in art or design. Thanks to his insight and talent, he became a freelance photographer and art director.
In 2001, his graphic design agency was founded. As his thirst for creative expression was not yet satisfied, he began photography in 2005. He gained experience in product and culinary photography, among other things, before expanding his skills with modeling sessions. It wasn't until 2009 that his true artistic blood revealed itself. James Chiew's images or paintings appeal to the imagination through colors , shapes, and texts. He is no stranger to exhibitions.
"If you are not satisfied with what you see, create it yourself." Chiew's motto is evident in every painting or sculpture by James Chiew. Chiew draws inspiration from everyday objects and activities. When you recognize his source of inspiration, you will never look at the world the same again. Chiew knows how to show the viewer a different perspective with his attention to detail, color, and technique. A fresh look at what we encounter in our daily lives. The sometimes bold hues and images bring excitement and sensation. It's no wonder Chiew has made a name for himself in corporate art. A James Chiew sculpture or a James Chiew painting separates you from reality.
