Sydney Opera House, 2025

Almiz Oksana

This vibrant, textured oil painting captures the electric pulse and romantic atmosphere of Sydney's iconic harbor at twilight. Standing majestically in the foreground, the architectural sails of the Sydney Opera House serve as the focal point, catching the warm, golden glow of evening illuminations. Behind it, the dense skyline of the Central Business District rises with towering skyscrapers, their windows shimmering like a galaxy of urban lights.
Rendered from an aerial, bird's-eye perspective, the composition creates a striking sense of scale and depth, making the viewer feel as though they are hovering above the harbor. The artist masterfully utilizes a heavy impasto technique, applying thick, deliberate strokes with a brush or palette knife to build up rich physical dimension on the canvas.
The color palette is dominated by deep, velvety indigos, blues, and purples that convey the coolness of the night, dramatically juxtaposed against the radiant yellows, oranges, and reds of the city’s lights. The sky and the water are alive with swirling, fluid motions, beautifully reflecting the glowing cityscape and imbuing the entire scene with dynamic energy and movement. Signed by the artist in the lower right corner, this artwork is a stunning celebration of modern architectural beauty and urban harbor life.
