Description

In a river with white water, several people were paddling aboard an orange inflatable boat. Their life jackets respond to the warm hues of the boats, while the white foam underlines the movement of the current. In the background, a dense bank of large green and brown trees frames the scene.

The silhouettes are sketched by frank touches, almost dissolved in the splashes. The contrast between the turquoise water, the dark forest and the bright orange gives the composition an immediate energy, as if seized at the heart of the descent.

Born in 1961 Jean Marie Drouet is graduated from the Fine Arts School of Angoulême. He likes drawing and making lot of photos before beginning a painting. He is inspired by contemporary photography and film culture that gives him an optimistic look on the world.

Referring to the American realistic painters such as N.C Wyeth or Edward Hopper, life’s scenes and characters are his favorite subjects. He is also fascinated by strong light contrasts and minimalistic settings. Sunlight is everywhere in Jean Marie Drouet paintings showing us the beautiful side of life.; his painting is quiet and bright aiming the beauty of the present time.
