Description
Under a large blue parasol, some silhouettes gather on the beach. Some seem to take shelter, others move away towards the edge of the image; on the right, a person holds a striped towel. The stage, reduced to a few figures and accessories, leaves a large place for the pale sky. The light touches and fragmented contours give the characters an almost fugitive presence. The bright blue of the parasol becomes the anchor point of the composition, while the orange and sandy accents evoke the summer heat. The image grasps less a precise action than a moment of relaxation, between shadow, light and movement.
Presentation
Born in 1961 Jean Marie Drouet is graduated from the Fine Arts School of Angoulême. He likes drawing and making lot of photos before beginning a painting. He is inspired by contemporary photography and film culture that gives him an optimistic look on the world.
Referring to the American realistic painters such as N.C Wyeth or Edward Hopper, life’s scenes and characters are his favorite subjects. He is also fascinated by strong light contrasts and minimalistic settings. Sunlight is everywhere in Jean Marie Drouet paintings showing us the beautiful side of life.; his painting is quiet and bright aiming the beauty of the present time.
