Description
This striking artwork masterfully employs a dynamic interplay of black, yellow, and white to create a visually compelling composition that exudes energy and depth. The canvas is dominated by bold, vertical streaks of paint that cascade down in a seemingly chaotic yet harmoniously structured flow. The black background provides a stark contrast to the vivid yellow and crisp white lines, allowing the colors to pop with intensity and vigor. The technique used appears to be a combination of impasto and drip painting, where layers of thick, textured paint are skillfully applied to create a sense of movement and spontaneity. These vertical lines suggest an abstract representation of nature, perhaps evoking the appearance of trees or tall grasses swaying in the wind. The irregular application of paint gives the piece a raw, unrefined quality, emphasizing the artist's emotive and gestural style. One of the unique aspects of this work is the seamless blend of abstraction with suggestions of natural forms, inviting viewers to interpret the piece through their perspectives. The meticulous yet frenetic brushwork showcases the artist's control over their medium, balancing precision with expressive freedom. In conclusion, this artwork stands as a testament to the power of abstract art to convey emotion and drama through color, texture, and form. Its bold lines and contrasting palette make it a visually arresting piece that is sure to captivate and provoke thought.
Presentation
My name is Michael R. Grine and I am an process oriented artist. I use a combination of found objects, acrylic paints, and aerosol paints to create abstract patterns on wood and canvas.
Statement
Curiosity. Emotion. Experimentation. Exploration. Leap of faith. Pursuit of knowledge. These words only begin to describe what my art signifies or represents. I was born an artist and have always identified myself as an artist. I possess an insatiable creative drive to make art out of the images I see in my mind. To help satisfy this impulse, I am always exploring new places and trying new things. Having freedom of expression and not being limited to one style or technique of making art are paramount to my identity as an artist. I love the many different processes of making art and experimenting with new ways of creating art.
My inspiration stems from color, music, literature, and the excitement about the unknown possibilities of taking everyday objects and using them in a way that differs from what the manufacturer intended. I use a combination of found objects, acrylic paints, and aerosol paints to create abstract patterns on wood and canvas. Some of my methods include combining different chemicals and paint on paper or in plastic or wood box frames to distort vivid colors that are mixed or thrown right on the canvas. The result is the distortion of lines and contours, and layers of translucent or opaque paints on the canvas or in random patterns.
