Description
This artwork is an unequivocal celebration of color and form, merging abstraction with a clear sense of intricate design. The piece radiates vibrancy through a dynamic interplay of red, purple, and green hues that captivate the viewer's attention immediately. The focal point resides in the heart of the composition, where a burst of red forms intricate, almost floral patterns, suggesting both a natural and abstract lineage. Surrounding the core, a purple haze overlays the canvas, creating depth and a sense of movement, as though the colors are both converging and dispersing at once. The layered application of spray paint technique is evident, producing a texture that feels both spontaneous and deliberate. This technique results in a captivating overlay of shapes that are at once geometric and amorphously organic. Green elements punctuate the composition, cleverly used to emphasize the negative space around the central forms, creating a lattice-like effect that adds to the complexity of the visual experience. Dots of red extend beyond the central burst, drawing the eye outward and suggesting a sense of expansiveness beyond the physical limits of the canvas. This piece is a testament to the power of color and shape to evoke emotion and stimulate the senses. It stands as an exemplar of contemporary abstract art, where the syntax of color and form communicates without the need for representational imagery. The harmonious yet energetic juxtaposition of tones and lines confirms the artist's mastery of composition and the profound impact of abstract expression.
Presentation
My name is Michael R. Grine and I am an process oriented artist. I use a combination of found objects, acrylic paints, and aerosol paints to create abstract patterns on wood and canvas.
Statement
Curiosity. Emotion. Experimentation. Exploration. Leap of faith. Pursuit of knowledge. These words only begin to describe what my art signifies or represents. I was born an artist and have always identified myself as an artist. I possess an insatiable creative drive to make art out of the images I see in my mind. To help satisfy this impulse, I am always exploring new places and trying new things. Having freedom of expression and not being limited to one style or technique of making art are paramount to my identity as an artist. I love the many different processes of making art and experimenting with new ways of creating art.
My inspiration stems from color, music, literature, and the excitement about the unknown possibilities of taking everyday objects and using them in a way that differs from what the manufacturer intended. I use a combination of found objects, acrylic paints, and aerosol paints to create abstract patterns on wood and canvas. Some of my methods include combining different chemicals and paint on paper or in plastic or wood box frames to distort vivid colors that are mixed or thrown right on the canvas. The result is the distortion of lines and contours, and layers of translucent or opaque paints on the canvas or in random patterns.
