The capability to transform into any shape, 2021

On Hansen   New & remarkable Artists

This artwork presents a striking exploration of form and texture, centering on a crumpled piece of material against a neutral gray backdrop. The monochromatic palette emphasizes the intricate folds and shadows, creating a visceral sense of depth and movement. Each crease captures light differently, revealing a complex play of dark and light areas that evoke a sense of organic decay or transformation. The simplicity of the background serves to amplify the focus on the material's chaotic beauty, transforming an ordinary object into a subject of intrigue. This piece challenges perceptions of everyday materials, elevating them through abstract representation, and invites the viewer to engage with the artistry of texture and form. The artwork's minimalist approach and complex detailing highlight its unique ability to balance simplicity with depth, rendering it both thought-provoking and visually arresting.

On Hansen originally from Scandinavia is the pseudonym used by the photographer Cristian Hunter, a third-generation artist who has spent most of his professional career as a photographer. His work bears the traces of lived experiences, exploring the possibilities of formal abstraction, seeking an organic experience between space and time through painting and photography. “There is no longer a single idea explaining everything, but an infinite number of essences giving meaning to an infinite number of objects. The world comes to a stop, but also lights up.” ― Albert Camus, The Myth of Sisyphus and Other Essays
