Akif Hakan  

Akif Hakan is an American-Turkish photographer born in 1980 in Istanbul, Turkey. His career started in the United States in 2004 when he was hired as a cameraman in Miami. He was fired later on and he found himself unemployed for some time, which gave him a lot of time to experiment with other visual arts, specially with photography which became his real passion. He lives between Hong Kong, Istanbul and Miami.

Akif Hakan's sensual photographs capture more than the eroticism or glamor. Hakan carefully draws his characters and scenes, influenced by fashion, cinema, the history of photography and the experimental protraits of Man Ray. His objective is to go beyong the traced territories and to free himself from the traditional rules of photography in order to be able to combine different techniques and create another kind of stories. His glamor plans as well as his artistic nudes resemble a lot cinematographic scenes.

After several years of hard work, Hakan became one of the best photographers of glamor, working between Asia and the United States. His portfolio presents female models of different ethnicities, but specially Asiatic women who are known for with their soft and seductive feminity. Hakan is known for his ability to create tangibly intimate scenes and voyeurs, erotic scenes arranged in domestic spaces, such as bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchens. Known as one of the best photographers (of the new generation) by multiple fashion magazines and finalist at the International Color Awards, he impresses everyone with his ability to capture the intimate and domestic mood and to mix dark feelings with glamor and fashion.
