Description
Inspired by Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe Dyptich, it is replaced by a macaw parrot, a motif taken from Nature. This parrot is taken from the same photograph, digitally modified to outrageously alter the colors. The original is among the modified motifs; it does not have a prominent place, it is diluted in this seriality.
So the original has the same value as its non-real doubles in bright, pop colors.
This work signifies both that our disconnection with Nature results in the fact that the original has the same value as the fake. Nature, erected as a consumer good, no longer has any existence for what it is.
Furthermore, for the first part, the parrots are on a gold background. Inspired by Byzantine icon art in which the gold background signifies the sacred, the parrot as such is sacred, but also its distorted, non-real variant. Thus, both the motif taken from Nature and its motif erected as a consumer good have become sacred. Both are placed on the same plane, neither takes precedence over the other. On the second part, the black and white signifies that the subject has disappeared, not only because it has lost its colors, a sign of life, but also graphically speaking, through the process of digital modification, it is distorted, manipulated until it is completely erased.
Presentation
Photographer for 11 years, whose photographic quest has always been that of the intact landscape. This sought-after intimacy with nature, the landscape is called into question by the omnipresence of mankind in the environment, not only because of its way of life but also of mass tourism.
Seeking to represent this impact of human beings on this nature and its environment in general (nature and the urban) with which he maintains an ambiguous relationship, he will add another medium - painting - to his photography.
Contrasting singularly with the photograph which represents a reality, the painted motif inserted therein therefore aims to question this ambiguous relationship.
Continuing the process to the end with the frame which represents artificiality, the motif itself is overflowing with it because now it is indeed Man who is the cause of everything, and no longer simply "the measure of everything" (Protagoras).
