Description

"ASYMETRIC I" introduces a rhythmic break and spatial tension within the series. Unlike the centered portraits in the collection, this work presents an industrial hierarchy: a line of uniform metal cylinders, whose order is suddenly transcended by the vertical ascent of a single vacuum tube.

This composition explores the concept of the "Catalyst." In a world of repetition and inert matter (the cylinders), the tube represents the emergence of consciousness and active energy. The vast black void that occupies most of the frame is not an absence, but an extension of the universal immensity in which light seeks its path.

The radical asymmetry of the image creates a dynamic balance that underscores the fragility and power of this technological relic of the past.

Technical Excellence

Media: Hahnemühle Baryta FB 350 g/m² paper. The paper's sheen accentuates the polish of the metal cylinders and the transparency of the glass, creating a striking contrast with the deep blacks.

Ink Technology: Canon LUCIA PRO II pigment printing. This technology allows for the reproduction of the finest details of the filaments and metallic textures with surgical precision.

Finish: The use of Chroma Optimizer ensures uniform light reflection across the entire surface, essential for a work that plays so heavily on areas of shadow.

France  • 1969

Presentation

Born in 1969, a self-taught photographer, Carles bought his first camera at the age of 14. Two years later, he made his first photographic exhibition. Freelance photographer for several newspapers, photo-journalist for artistic events, passionate about nature where he finds an inexhaustible source of inspiration.

In 1999 he founded MAG Grup, a company dedicated to industrial and artistic photography, a high quality printing service and the creation of websites.

Eight years later he moved to Ceret (French Catalonia) and founded MAG Arts, where he is developing the more artistic aspects of his work as a photographer, graphic designer, webmaster and arts collaborater.

« As a photographer, he takes off on his motorbike on the hunt for the image, the moment…., spending hours immersed in his universe, where he encounters the subjects of his compositions. In many of his oeuvres, Carles portrays images that are also found in the Japanese aesthetic of Wabisabi in the way that his photographs capture the largely unnoticed beauty of the simple, modest and humble that is all around us. They show us the impermanence of things and the beauty of the old, worn and decomposing. Many images are captured from an unusual angle forcing the viewer to look at things from a new perspective. He invites the viewer to see with different eyes…, he shows us images that highlight graphic shapes using light, shadow and simple lines. »
