Description
This photograph explores the notion of time through a meticulously composed still life.
The gaze falls upon an antique alarm clock, a symbol of a rhythmic and inexorable temporality.
Beside it, a white egg evokes birth and beginning.
An overturned glass, with bluish reflections, suggests fragility and the cycle of gestation.
The whole rests on a reflective surface that doubles the perspective.
The blurred background invites reflection on infinity and man's place in the universe.
The contrast between the precision of the objects and the vagueness of the background emphasizes the ephemeral nature of existence.
This work plays on the symbolism of forms to question our relationship to duration.
The composition balances the masses and colors to create a visual dialogue between the concrete and the immaterial.
Presentation
Gianni Colangelo was born in a small village in Abruzzo where he decided to come back to live. He has traveled a lot, he loves books (even wrote a few), he has always listened with interest to people and is enriched by differences. He started taking photos at the age of 7. In his photos, he puts his thoughts, his fears, his books, his passions, the music he loves. He hopes that those who observe his photographic doodles will perceive it all in it and that if their mind is, by any chance, touched, it will represent his success. The series "Odissey" is a work on time, in the form of still lifes, Gianni Colangelo stages objects that evoke gestation (glasses, containers ...), birth (egg ...) and time that happening (clock, pendulums, alarm clock ...). The choice of still life is made to amplify the ephemeral side of our life compared to a more sustainable environment. The fuzzy nature of the background inspires a questioning of the infinity that surrounds us and the limits of our place in the universe.
