Description
A dreamlike fusion of reality and surrealism. This mixed media artwork blends precise digital imagery with a poetic, fragmented composition in photography and painting. A central figure floats weightlessly within a soft cloud. The scene disrupts the logic of a traditional urban landscape. Swarms of dark birds scatter across a pale, textured sky. Their movement creates a rhythmic tension against the stillness of the background.
Below, the imagery shifts toward the pastoral. Cows wander through a desolate white expanse. Stark, leafless trees stretch upward like obsidian veins. The artist employs a complex layering of photography and mixed media. Transparent overlays and shifting perspectives evoke a sense of mystery. This composition explores the raw side of human existence through a fairytale lens. It transforms an urban view into a psychological wonderland. The use of C-print and acrylic under plexiglass adds a modern, polished depth to the visual experience. Every element balances chaos with meticulous design. The result is a mystical research into the intersection of beauty and imperfection. The piece concludes with a sharp contrast between the ethereal sky and the grounded, monochromatic silhouettes of the animals.
Presentation
Geert Lemmers, free and liberal artist, Fine Photo Art, Painting and New Media.
Geert Lemmers was born in the mysterious Land van Maas en Waal in the Netherlands. His grandmother's stories about witches and secret societies have formed him as an artist.
He studied photography and photographic arts and worked as a freelancer for years making reportages and portraits for magazines and fashion photographs. After the digital revolution he could realize his dream by making art, the way he saw it. In 2008 Geert Lemmers won the professional art-price in his region and that was the start of a successful artistic career.
After years of collaboration with well-known painters, his possibilities only grew.
Geert Lemmers is interested in our world and in its cultural and sexual diversity. He works mostly project-based and his work is about "the world of people" as a sort of general research.
"The world of people is about men and women behind often beautiful looking facades in the middle of the chaotic universe we live in. I research the raw site of our lives represented as fairytales in a wonderland as a enlargement of our life. Enlarged characters in chaos, beauty and imperfection. In every new project I vary on this basic-entity."
Geert's works, however, are characterized [now that he is getting older] by an increasing need for abstract and highly simplified design, allowing more room for emotion and the mystical.
Geert's works are honored many times and his works were to be seen in several international art - magazines.
