This striking artwork presents an intimate close-up of a zebra, prominently featuring its intricate black and white stripes. The composition draws the viewer's eye to the zebra's expressive eye, providing a window into the soul of this majestic creature. The artist masterfully contrasts light and shadow, enhancing the hypnotic pattern of the stripes. The meticulous detail rendered in the fur and the graceful curvature of the lines emphasize the uniqueness of each stripe. This piece skillfully balances realism with an almost abstract quality, highlighting the zebra's natural allure. The minimalist color palette—a stark black and white—adds a timeless elegance, inviting reflection on the simplicity and complexity of nature. The unconventional framing, capturing just a portion of the animal, instills a sense of mystery and depth, leaving the viewer yearning for more.
"In few photographers like Mauricio Velez does aesthetic become ethics. Every portrait scene is seamless. Every composition is an impeccable piece: the light, gesture, even the preference in models. Nothing can be discredited of the photographic style neither the clean technic. And for this aesthetic perfection, the message lands to the viewer in its pure state."
