Description
His compositions made with oil paint represent the universes between which Aldo is situated brush in hand: the divine, the human, the classic and the contemporary. The reading is multiple: the clear part reinforces a certainty and the pixelated one leaves room for doubt. The troubled anachronism is even often double: the pixel and what it represents. Presentation
Aldo Sergio was born in Salerno in 1982. After graduating in art, he studied anthropology at the University of Perugia, an experience that led him to develop a holistic approach to art.
“I obstruct what we think we know.
While it may seem contrived to obstruct an image, yet every real situation contains doubt, and my job is to highlight certainties by omission.
Emphasize the certainties by omission and, in doing so, I hope to preserve the doubt. I am interested in the visual and intellectual consequences of the disappearance of a certainty. If the task of contemporary art is to understand the mechanism of thought, in my work I feel the need to alter, to provoke in the viewer his consciousness, his certainties and his doubts. »
This is how the artist manages to create two movements, one vertical, the other horizontal.
Vertical in the mind of the viewer, which rises in response to the content of his work and a horizontal movement which consists of approaching and moving away physically from the canvas, in an effort to attract the attention of the viewer, in order to find a clearer visual experience of the web.
There are four parts to his universe. : the divine, the human, the classic and the contemporary. Everything it does can be located somewhere on this four-axis space. It may be close to heaven but still hold a strong connection to Italian folklore. Then there is the next step, censorship, the obfuscation of certainty.
