Original silkscreen print by Dutch artist Bob Bonies titled, created in 1983. This geometric composition exemplifies Bonies' characteristic exploration of color, proportion, and spatial relationships within the language of concrete and minimalist abstraction.
Hand-signed and dated in pencil lower right.
Numbered lower left
The work presents a carefully balanced arrangement of rectangular forms set against a neutral grey background. Within the composition, a sequence of vivid color blocks—red, blue, green, and yellow—creates a dynamic interplay between structure and color. Bonies' restrained yet powerful use of geometry reflects his commitment to the principles of constructivist and concrete art, where clarity, harmony, and mathematical precision form the basis of visual expression.
Bob Bonies (born 1937) is a prominent Dutch artist associated with geometric abstraction and the international movement of Concrete Art. Since the 1960s, Bonies has developed a distinctive visual language based on strict geometric systems, color relationships, and spatial balance.
His work is closely related to the traditions of artists such as Mondrian and the De Stijl movement, while also engaging with modernist concepts of structure and perception. Bonies' prints, paintings, and reliefs are held in numerous museum collections and are recognized for their refined simplicity and timeless clarity.

Bob BONIES (The Hague 1937)
Sculptor, painter, designer, graphic artist
Education:
Academy of Fine Arts The Hague, Free Academy The Hague, Stockholm Högre Konst Industriëlla Skolan. From 1988 to 2001 he was director of the Free Academy of Arts in The Hague.
Lives and works in The Hague
In the early 1960s, a group of artists emerged who wanted to create abstract art with no deeper meaning. The work had to be systematic, concrete and rational. They opposed the emotional charge of expressionism, and were pioneers in this. Bob Bonies was a prominent member of this avant-garde movement. With the use of contrasting colors and geometric shapes, he seeks balance and order.
Bob Bonies has developed a strong body of work over the years, averse to fashions and trends.
