Description
In this energetic and colorful artwork, Bruno Boffa pays tribute to Astro Boy, the iconic character of Japanese manga and animation. The young hero bursts into the foreground in a dynamic pose, as if ready to leap out of the frame. His futuristic universe intertwines with an urban, textured background composed of layered posters, graffiti, fragmented typography, and splashes of white paint that enhance the sense of movement and vitality.
The artist skillfully blends Japanese pop culture with Western street art aesthetics, creating a vibrant composition where past, modernity, and imagination meet. Dominant shades of blue and red bring visual intensity and highlight the character's dynamic energy.
Created on an aluminum panel, the piece combines photo montage and high-definition printing, enhanced with the meticulous application of gold leaf, which adds brilliance and depth. A high-quality automotive varnish is then applied, giving the work exceptional gloss and long-lasting protection, while amplifying the vivid colors and contrasts.
Boffa masterfully fuses pop culture and urban art in a piece filled with energy, modernity, and nostalgia.
Presentation
Born in Ixelles in June 1968, he has been passionate about cars and the visual arts since childhood.
His artistic studies at Saint-Luc in Brussels first led him for 25 years as a graphic designer in an advertising agency. In 2016, he decided to devote himself entirely to his passions.
Inspired by Pop and Street Art, it was then that he produced his first compositions and created Legend & Gentlemen Drivers as part of a collaboration with Jean-Pol Piron.
Photographic overlays each composed of a mix of at least twenty images on themes including mainly motor sport legends but also those of cinema and television series that rocked our childhood ... all embellished with draping, posters, graffiti, logos,… with its own refinement.
A finish composed of a lacquer of 2 layers of resin allows to give this depth and this particular luminosity to the work. Each basic creation is then produced in a limited series, signed and numbered, up to a maximum of 7 copies. A black and white series is printed on Plexiglas.
