Konstantin Kornakov reinvents Tarot cards by incorporating his unique aesthetic, characterized by the use of characters from his series. This project fuses traditional Tarot imagery with contemporary and urban elements, giving rise to a distinctive visual language.
The Devil symbolizes material attachment, desires, and temptations. Depicted as a demonic figure surrounded by chained characters, this arcana reminds us of excessive passions, illusions, and submission to negative forces. It can also represent sexuality or the destructive power of uncontrolled desires.
Symbolism: Desires, temptations, attachment. The Devil represents shadow forces, the spirit of provocation, but also the confrontation with our own inner demons and material illusions.
Interpretation: This card invites us to examine the chains that hold us back, whether they are obsessions or dependencies. On a positive note, it can embody an awareness of the hidden aspects of the psyche. When reversed, it may indicate a release from these chains — or, conversely, a deepening of those dependencies.
Presentation
Painter and designer, Konstantin Kornakov is also a photographer. His images have the particularity that even if he photographs elements he sees and finds in the street, they represent neither people, nor objects, nor real landscapes.
He uses his device less as a means of recording reality than as an instrument of vision. Because what he photographs are visions first of all. He need indeed have had some kind of visual revelation to be able, then, to press the shutter.
His motives are fragments of urban landscapes, non-identifiable corners with no importance for "where", but with its plastic quality, the visual event, the fact of appearance of an element of beauty in the cacophony of the world.
