Description
Screen print on paper, realized in 1976.
Hand signed and numbered in pencil.
Edition of 90.
The work depicts a rural harvest in progress, with villagers working together as oxen draw a threshing device through bundled sheaves of grain. The composition unfolds across a wide, gently rolling landscape, animated by carefully spaced figures, domestic animals, and lush vegetation. Bright, harmonious colors and clearly outlined shapes lend the scene clarity and narrative warmth.
Associated with the Hlebine School and the Croatian Naïve Art tradition, Gaži is known for his balanced compositions, pastoral themes, and lyrical portrayal of village life. This work exemplifies his focus on agricultural labor as a symbol of community, continuity, and harmony with nature.
A highly decorative and engaging print, appealing to collectors of Naïve Art, folk-inspired imagery, and 20th-century Central European prints.
