Description
Produced in collaboration with the renowned Dou Print Studio, this limited-edition lithograph offers a condensed overview of Hayri Şengün's visual vocabulary. Bringing together recurring motifs, fragmented figures, hybrid creatures, and sculptural forms, the composition reads almost like an atlas of the artist's imagination, a constellation in which ideas from different periods and bodies of work coexist within a single image. Rather than presenting a linear narrative, the print reveals the fluid and evolving ecosystem from which Şengün's practice emerges.
Conceived as an edition of 20, with only 5 impressions currently available, the lithograph occupies a unique position within the artist's oeuvre. It functions simultaneously as an autonomous artwork and as a key to understanding the broader universe of his sculptures and drawings, offering an intimate glimpse into the forms, gestures, and recurring characters that shape his artistic language. The collaboration with Dou Print Studio further underscores the print's significance, bringing together one of Turkey's most respected printmaking workshops with an artist whose practice continuously moves between drawing, sculpture, and material experimentation.
Presentation
Hayri Şengün (b. 1992, Ankara, TR) is an artist based in Ankara whose practice centres on sculpture, alongside engraving, ceramics and painting. He completed his undergraduate and master's degrees in Fine Arts at Bilkent University, where his research examined ocularcentrism and emphasised tactility in artistic experience. Grounded in a direct and physical relationship with materials, his work approaches thinking as a process that unfolds through making and touch. His forms emerge from an ongoing dialogue between intention and process, often shaped by controlled accidents. Alongside his studio practice, Şengün teaches foundation design in the Department of Visual Communication Design at TED University. His first solo exhibition in France presented at Alo Galerie in June 2026.
