Description
Franco Cisternino was born in Foggia (Italy) on July 21, 1969. The works in the pictorial cycle "Woman" are a scenographic and symbolic representation of women, seen both through the eyes of an artist and those of a man. These paintings aim to represent women beyond society's stereotypes: their essence, their humanity, their fragility and, at the same time, their strength. The choice of color, in its monochromaticity, slightly sepia, is intended to convey a sense of mystery, of experience and/or memory. The veil that wraps the woman has multiple meanings: the part that delicately wraps her body is pink, almost blending with her own skin; while the remaining part of it is intended to represent, through its tension, the influence of the social stereotype of a strong, emancipated, beautiful and thin woman.
The title of the work is intended to aid understanding of it by using adjectives or nouns linked to its intention to humanize it and capture its essence.
