Description
This graphic composition plays on a fragile balance between structure and improvisation. The black line asserts itself forcefully on a cream background, alternating between nervous lines and dense blocks.
The space is rhythmized by zones of transparency and suggested geometric shapes. A few touches of beige soften the rigor of the contrast, bringing a subtle depth to the whole.
The gesture is free, almost instinctive. It evokes a suspended movement, where the void becomes an active element of the composition.
Created in 2015, this print uses the aquatint technique to create nuanced textures and precise gradients.
This work explores the dialogue between the full and the empty through an abstract and stripped-down language.
The final rendering is characterized by a technical precision that emphasizes the spontaneity of the drawing.
Presentation
Alain Grosajt was born in 1943, in Paris. He lives and works in Monteux in the Vaucluse.
Alain Grosajt entered painting with a full stride with Twombly and Tapiès as guides. Tireless worker, he covers the canvas with hundreds of signs, creating his own writing, inventing his memory, patching up the painful 20th century with painting. Nourished by his inner journey, but also by the encounter with other landscapes – in Oceania, in the Southwestern United States, in Vietnam or even more recently in Brazil – his art stands on the thread of a singular destiny. Images and sensations intertwine in the painter's mind who traces the course of his thought on the canvas.
