Description
This engraving captures the essence of Catalan informalism. Daniel Argimon explores the tactile nature of matter through a focused composition. A central earthy void sits enclosed within a vibrant green perimeter. The organic shapes suggest a microscopic view or a weathered map. Rhythmic contours define the boundary between the internal brown core and the mossy exterior. The artist employs a rich layering of color to simulate physical depth. This approach reflects his lifelong fascination with textures and the passage of time. The artwork balances a minimalist structure with complex tonal variations. Precise lines meet raw edges to create a tension between control and spontaneity. The white space surrounding the central form enhances its isolation and intensity. This print demonstrates a sophisticated mastery of engraving techniques. It transforms a simple graphic element into a profound meditation on nature and form. The piece concludes with a delicate signature and numbering dated 1986.
Presentation
Argimon (Sarriá 1929 - Barcelona 1996) is one of the great Catalan informalist artists. This painter, engraver and sculptor touched much of the 20th century art from paintings, collages, engravings and lithographs to cinema or sculpture. In the sixties he used materials gnawed by the use or the passage of time and began to create collages with cartons, papers, photographs, fabrics, etc. Later he worked other types of subjects.
Informalism and a taste for matter and color are its distinctive features.
