Description
This artwork presents a mesmerizing study of form and color, exemplifying both minimalism and depth. Centered on a stark black background, there is a striking circular form rendered in a vivid yellow-orange hue, resembling an ethereal ring or halo. This ring, almost liquid in its appearance, boasts a textural richness achieved through masterful brushstrokes and subtle variations in shading, suggestive of a glowing, otherworldly object. The boundary of the circle is irregular and wavy, imbuing the piece with a sense of organic dynamism. This seemingly molten edge contrasts sharply against the solid, unyielding black backdrop, creating a captivating visual tension. The inner rim subtly fades into darkness, adding to the enigmatic quality of the piece and inviting viewers to ponder the mysteries within its void. The simplicity of the composition belies its intricate detailing and the emotive power it exudes. This artwork stands as a testament to the profound impact that careful manipulation of color and form can achieve, embodying a delicate balance between chaos and order, and ultimately drawing the observer into a meditative and contemplative state.
Presentation
My name is Michael R. Grine and I am an process oriented artist. I use a combination of found objects, acrylic paints, and aerosol paints to create abstract patterns on wood and canvas.
Statement
Curiosity. Emotion. Experimentation. Exploration. Leap of faith. Pursuit of knowledge. These words only begin to describe what my art signifies or represents. I was born an artist and have always identified myself as an artist. I possess an insatiable creative drive to make art out of the images I see in my mind. To help satisfy this impulse, I am always exploring new places and trying new things. Having freedom of expression and not being limited to one style or technique of making art are paramount to my identity as an artist. I love the many different processes of making art and experimenting with new ways of creating art.
My inspiration stems from color, music, literature, and the excitement about the unknown possibilities of taking everyday objects and using them in a way that differs from what the manufacturer intended. I use a combination of found objects, acrylic paints, and aerosol paints to create abstract patterns on wood and canvas. Some of my methods include combining different chemicals and paint on paper or in plastic or wood box frames to distort vivid colors that are mixed or thrown right on the canvas. The result is the distortion of lines and contours, and layers of translucent or opaque paints on the canvas or in random patterns.
