Description
Bronze sculpture by contemporary French artist Romain Langlois. The work features an impressively realistic imitation of tree bark, achieved through casting techniques and enhanced with patinas for its rich colors. The polished interior reveals a golden hue, reflecting light beautifully.
Romain Langlois transforms this ordinary object, imbuing it with a new, precious quality that intrigues and shifts our perception.
Presentation
Born in 1977, Romain Langlois moved from design and architecture towards material via sculpture. To avoid just stammering, he began a titanic work of technical documentation, went through the Arts Déco in Strasbourg, met masters and undertook initial work by shaping a large number of pieces in earth.
Little by little, he became familiar with all the materials, their possibilities and their appearance. Having become an expert in production techniques, he moved from figurative and narrative sculpture via human representation towards working with the material for its own sake, using even wood and rocks to become a master of hybridization. But above all he uses the raw material of the sculpture (bronze) to transform it through the effect of patina and volume into wood, stone, liquid gold.
