Description
This drawing is part of a series of works about my lifelong interaction with the sea. I look for objects washed up on the beach such as sea sponges, coral, clusters of seaweed and try to capture the complex and organic composition of them, rendering them in fine detail with pencil and colour pencil and with this drawing, etching into the paper with a very hard pencil, then drawing over that to imitate the texture of the sponge.
